House of Wax

So I watched the movie House of wax last night.  This is a pretty freaking crazy movie.  The movie came out in 2005 it stars Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Van Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, and Robert Ri’Chard.  So the movie starts with these teenagers setting out to go to some big football game. They stop on one night because they are close to the game, and they need to rest.  This is when everything starts to go wrong.  There is some creepy guy that comes and shines his headlights on their campsite and then he drives away.  Experiencing car problems in the morning two of the kids hitchhike to a near town.  Little did they know that this town was way different than what they were looking for.  This movie is suspenseful and quite graphic.  If you are up for a thriller than i would suggest this movie for a good night of entertainment.  But if you have a week stomach then you should probably pass this movie up and just leave it alone.  Overall though I think this is a very good movie.

Pregnant

So today I read an article that Lisa Marie Presley is officially pregnant with her third child.   It was said that this is her first child with her new  Fourth husband Michael Lockwood.  Well I guess he is not really a new husband because they were married in 2006, but anyway it is her first child with this man.  Her other two children are from a previous marriage and they are the ages of 15 and 18.  I feel bad for her because the media has been slandering her name.  Poor lady that is alot of stress for a pregnant women, the media sometimes gets a little outta hand i believe.  Magazines where saying such things as “if she isnt pregnant then she should get a personal trainer”.  Now I mean come on how awful is that.  Poor woman after saying something like that they better hope she is pregnant because that is a low blow on someone’s self esteem. Liza Marie Presley is a beautiful women and I am happy that she is pregnant with her third child.  A new baby is sure to bring happyness to their marriage and their family.

AMERICAN IDOL

So I just finished watching american idol for tonight. and tonight it was the women.  the men were on last night.  i personally think that none of the women are really that great.  but on the other end of the spectrum the guys are good and David Archuletta is freaking sweet. its amazing he is so young and awesome. i really hope that he wins the competition because i feel he has been the most steady throughout the entire competition.  HE IS JUST AWESOME.  the girl that i think is good is Asia’h Epperson she is the one who her father passed away before her auditions and i think that is just awesome that she has continued on with the competition.  it is really really cool. i like it.  we have a long road ahead of us so hopefully all turns out well.

OUTRAGE

So the other day I watched a video on Josh C.’s wordpress. and it completly ticked me off. Its about a little boy who has cancer. and you know how make a wish foundation does the make a wish for dying kids. well this little brat wished for unlimited wishes and now make a wish is bankrupt. now to me this seems completly unfair. and what kind of parents raise their children to take complete advantage of an organization that is trying to help a child fulfill one wish before they dye at such a young age. because of this childs selfishness there are many children dying without one of their wishes being fulfilled. it is just amazing to me how one family can be so inconsiderate and hateful. it is completly rediculous. if you wanna watch this video then go to Josh. C’s wordpress. http://mrcrider.wordpress.com/ type that into your search engine and its the make a wish video.

elections

So I was very surprised with the outcome of the primary elections yesterday. I was quite surprised to learn that Hillary Cliton came out on top instead of Obama. Also that McCain finished over Huckabee. Right now I am not sure what to think. I had never dreamed Hillary would win the Ohio primary, because Obama seemed to be doing so very well. I guess the elections are something that you cannot predict. Now the race appears to be between Clinton and McCain I am curious to see who our next president of The United States of America will be.

opinion

So this whole Op-Ed thing is alot harder than I thought it would be.  I mean it has kind of proven to be educational. Because I never even knew that these things existed before a week ago.  and now I have to write my own.  So ok its an opportunity to learn a different style of writing. The only thing that is kind of bad about spending all of this time on one thing is that i may never use this Op-Ed writing ability ever again. But oh well i guess that is part of learning. You just sometimes have to learn useless things.

Revised Op-Ed

I recently have done research  on Men in nursing. While conducting this research I found out many interesting things. There has been much confusion and turmoil within the nursing field over the last hundred years. Many people do not realize that men were the main founders of the nursing profession. Nursing started out as mainly a male dominated profession in early times.  Before I started researching Men in Nursing I thought that men were just being lazy and chickens for not joining the nursing profession but my research changed my mind.  So maybe this Op-Ed will change your opinion of Men in Nursing.
I was curious on how the passing of time had changed the nursing profession from a dominatly male to a dominatly female profession. The reason that this topic is really interesting to me is because I am currently attending college at a nursing school. I have first hand experiance that there are very few men going into the nursing profession. At my particular college there are only nine men in my freshmen class. To me this is a great example of the theory that men are shying away from nursing as much as possible. But I have also noticed that these men that are attending the school with me are different. I always picture men as tough and good with cars and not kids. These men that I attend school with are kind and generous. Yes, they still act like young children in certain situations, but for the most part they act very mature.
Men origionally were banned from nursing due to all of the women rights movements in the early 1900’s. Ever since the ban was lifted men have been struggling to regain their respect in the nursing profession. In my opinion the major issue for men is the stereotyping of the nursing profession as a ‘woman’s work’. I believe that most of this stereotyping does not start in college but I think that it starts at a young age and within the home setting. What I mean by this is that everyone is raised differently. An example I am going to use that is a very contriversial topic is Racism. If a childs parents are completly against interracial communications or marriages then the child will grow up with the same believes. I feel that the outlook on Nursing is developed in the same exact way. If a childs parents see the men as the dominate sex and the child is raised to believe that if a man was to go into nursing then he would be disgracing the entire family. This is where the outlook on nursing is changed dramatically. I feel that if parents start teaching their children at a young age that any one person can do anything then we will have less of a shortage in nursing.
Nursing schools across America are struggling to recruit men into the nursing field. Many ways that they have started recruiting more and more men sucessfully by using Man-to-Man recruiting. Because who else knows more about men in nursing than a man who is in the nursing field himself. So he can tell the incoming students about the hardships and advantages of being in the nursing field.
Once men have been attracted to the nursing field you may think alright we are solving this shortage. But did you know that the retintion rate of males in the nursing field is much lower than that of females. Men are more likely than females to drop out of nursing school after the first year. So many universities have set up support programs for the male students. These programs provide help for those students that feel isolated and bring them into groups of men. This makes them feel more confident in their schooling and create less barriers for themselves.
I really enjoyed doing this research it was very informational. It gave me a new perspective on why men are hesitant when going into the nursing profession. I was raised like I am sure many others were that you can do anything you can set your mind to. I was just caught up on why men were so hesitant when entering the nursing field when they were supposed to be fearless and willing to stand up to anything. But now that I have learned the facts I must say that if I was a male in the world today I would definatly think twice before entering a profession that puts me at so much societal and emotional risk.
