Not in the way that you are thinking. But we need more men in Nursing!!!!! We have a shortage of nurses in the US. We need more men to step up to the plate and enter the nursing profession. Yes, nursing has been percieved as a womens profession due to the nature of women to take care of the sick. But nursing started out as a man’s profession a long long time ago. When the women’s rights activists took there action men were no longer involved. WE NEED THE MEN TO HELP FILL THE VOID THAT WE HAVE IN THE NURSING FIELD.
I definitely agree with you that we do need more people to enter the nursing profession. Not just men, but women also. Women started to become associated with nursing during the early wars of the US. The Civil War, Pearl Harbor, Vietnam, etc. The only way a woman could enter the war is through a job as a nurse. The nurses were in high demand then, as they are now. But now they are in demand because of the increasing difficulty in the education and the decrease in faculty. Also the baby boomer’s are getting old. There are many other factors also involved. Those are just a few major concerns. Men can definitely help out this trend, but we need help all over!
